By accessing courses offered by the Canadian International Institute of Applied Negotiation (CIIAN), CIIAN grants you a nonexclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use our copyrighted course and any associated materials solely for your own personal and non-commercial, non-duplicatable use.
CIIAN Content is protected by copyright, trademark and other intellectual property laws and all ownership rights remain with us. We reserve all rights in and to CIIAN Content. CIIAN Content may not be distributed, downloaded, modified, reused, copied, reproduced, transferred, displayed, reposted,transmitted, disseminated, sold, published, broadcast or circulated or otherwise exploited without the express written permission of CIIAN.
Your purchase and access to CIIAN programming does not grant you any ownership rights to CIIAN Content.

Learning Module One: Self and Others
Refund Policy
We guarantee your satisfaction! These methods are tried-and-tested so we have a high degree of confidence in our offerings; however, if you feel the course quality and content are not meeting your expectations, then we will offer you a 100% refund.
To qualify for the refund, the following conditions must be met.
- A refund must be requested before proceeding past Section 6: Beliefs and Perceptions. If any learning content past Section 6 is accessed, this condition will not be met.
- A refund must be requested within 14 days of enrolling in the course.
Course Completion Time
Upon enrollment, students have 12 weeks to complete the program. CIIAN is under no obligation to extend access beyond this deadline; however, under reasonable extenuating circumstances, CIIAN may extend enrollment.

Certificate & Badge Requirements
A Certificate in “Conflict Dynamics and Strategies” and Digital Badge may be earned for the successful completion of Learning Module One: Self and Others.
Requirements Include:
- Viewing all video lessons in their entirety
- Final Quiz (35 multiple choice and true/false questions) – open “book” and unlimited “redo” attempts.
- Final Assignment (a short final assignment to demonstrate an ability to apply the materials to your own life circumstances. (30min-1hr approx.)
Note: These requirements are NOT mandatory (this course may be completed without fulfilling certification requirements).

Learning Module Two: Mediation Certificate
- The course materials and content provided are the intellectual property of CIIAN and are protected by copyright law. Participants may not reproduce, distribute, or sell any of the materials without prior written consent from CIIAN.
- CIIAN reserves the right to cancel the course due to unforeseen circumstances or insufficient enrollment. If the course is cancelled, a full refund will be issued to all registered participants.
- We understand that plans can change. Our cancellation policy is designed to be as accommodating as possible: a full refund is available if you cancel more than 7 days before the program start date. Should you need to cancel within 7 days of the start date, we will provide a 75% refund. Please note that no refunds are available after the program has begun; however, in extraordinary circumstances, we may consider partial refunds or other accommodations on a case-by-case basis.
- CIIAN reserves the right to make changes to the course schedule, curriculum, or instructors as necessary. Any changes will be communicated to participants as soon as possible.
- Successful completion of CIIAN’s Learning Module One is required by the end of week one of Learning Module Two. Failure to do so may result in the loss of a participant’s seat without refund. Rest assured, we are here to support you in understanding the material and will assist you through any difficulties you may encounter.
- CIIAN is not responsible for any technical issues or interruptions in internet or Zoom connectivity that may affect a participant’s ability to fully participate in the course.
- To receive a CIIAN certificate in mediation, you must complete all mandatory exercises and participate in live sessions. CIIAN reserves the right to refuse a certificate if requirements are not met or for any reason.
- Participants can opt for an additional role-play assessment to qualify for the IMI Qualified Mediator designation, at an extra cost of $725 CAD. This fee includes the CIIAN assessment and the registration fees at the IMI. Successfully passing the assessment is required to earn the IMI qualification. Participants who do not pass may retake the assessment, subject to the same fee.

Negotiation Program
Intellectual Property Rights: The course materials and content provided are the exclusive intellectual property of CIIAN and are protected by copyright law. Participants are strictly prohibited from reproducing, distributing, or selling any of the materials without obtaining prior written consent from CIIAN.
Prerequisite Requirements: Prior completion of CIIAN’s Learning Module One is a prerequisite for enrolling in CIIAN’s Negotiation program. Please ensure that you have either finished the module or purchased a bundled package that includes the prerequisite before enrolling in the negotiation program.
Certification Requirements: To be eligible for negotiation certifications, participants must satisfactorily complete all mandatory exercises and final quiz. CIIAN reserves the right to decline certification if the requirements are not met or if they are not adequately met, at its sole discretion.
Course Completion Time: Upon enrollment, you will have a 180-day timeframe to complete the negotiation program. Please note that CIIAN is not obligated to extend access beyond this deadline. However, in reasonable extenuating circumstances, CIIAN may consider extending enrollment.
For individuals pursuing the Registered Negotiation Professional (RNP) designation, there is a maximum timeframe of 1.5 years to fulfill all requirements. This timeframe begins upon payment/registration and the initiation of fulfilling RNP requirements after obtaining CIIAN’s certificate in negotiation.

Conflict Triage™: Workplace Conflict Assessment & Early Intervention
Intellectual Property
All course materials, frameworks, and content provided by the Canadian International Institute of Applied Negotiation (CIIAN) are protected by copyright and intellectual property law. Participants may not reproduce, distribute, distribute, or sell any materials without prior written consent from CIIAN.
Program Structure
This certificate program includes:
- Immediate access to CIIAN’s Learning Module One: Self and Others (self-paced)
- A live three-day Conflict Triage training session
Participants receive immediate access to Learning Module One upon enrollment. The Module One component is governed by its own refund policy as outlined on this Terms and Conditions page.
Cancellation and Refund Policy
If a participant cancels their registration for the Conflict Triage program:
- More than 14 days before the start of the live training – full refund of the program fee (Learning Module One refund conditions remain governed by its own policy)
- 7–13 days before the start of the live training – 50% refund of the program fee
- Less than 7 days before the start of the live training – no refund
Participants who cancel retain access to Learning Module One subject to its own refund conditions.
Attendance and Participation
Participants are expected to attend all scheduled live sessions. Active participation in exercises and discussions is required in order to receive a certificate of completion.
If a participant misses the cohort for which they registered, their seat may be forfeited. Participation in a future cohort may be offered at CIIAN’s discretion but is not guaranteed.
CIIAN Cancellation or Schedule Changes
CIIAN reserves the right to cancel or reschedule the program due to unforeseen circumstances or insufficient enrollment.
If CIIAN cancels the program, participants may choose either:
- Transfer their registration to a future offering of the program, retaining access to Learning Module One, or
- Receive a full refund of their registration, in which case access to Learning Module One will be revoked.
Technology and Language Requirements
Participants are responsible for ensuring they have adequate internet connectivity, audio/video capability, and sufficient English language proficiency to participate fully in the live sessions. CIIAN is not responsible for technical issues that affect a participant’s ability to attend or participate.
Certification
To receive a CIIAN certificate of completion, participants must attend the live sessions and participate in required exercises. CIIAN reserves the right to decline certification if participation requirements are not met.
Prior Completion of Learning Module One
Participants who have previously completed CIIAN’s Learning Module One may contact CIIAN prior to enrollment to request a recognition credit toward the Conflict Triage program. Any such credit is provided at CIIAN’s discretion.
Prerequisite Requirement
Completion of CIIAN’s Learning Module One is required prior to the start of the live Conflict Triage sessions. Participants who have not completed the module before the program begins may be asked to defer their participation to a future cohort.
